Former Williamson resident and Kroger cashier, Debbie L. Smith (Crosier), 66. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 9 at her home in Beckley WV.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at Melton Mortuary in Beckley with Dr. James Boyd officiating at 5 pm. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, only 25 individuals will be allowed to attend the funeral. A live stream video will be shared on Debbie’s Facebook page approximately at 5 pm for those who cannot attend.
Debbie was born March 27, 1954, in Williamson and was a graduate of Williamson High School in 1972. Her walk with Jesus Christ was most important to her and commitment to God. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Beckley, WV. Her commitment to Christ began as a young girl in East Williamson Baptist Church in Williamson, WV. She enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher for most of her years. Most recently she was enjoying traveling to visit her family and friends and volunteering at the Senior Center in Beckley, WV. In her earlier years, she was a Girl Scout and eventually became a scout leader.
Debbie was preceded in death by parents Raymond and Lucille Childers, brothers Ray (Tex) Childers and David Childers and sister, Dana Childers. She is survived by her children, Candy and Dwayne Thompson, stepdaughter Trudy Gebo , special friend, Robert Bolt, sister Shera Childers and special sister-in-law, Helen Childers as well as 5 grandchildren that loved and adored her . They include Derek Johnson, Kiarah Crosier, Cody Sipple, Savannah Thompson and Cheyenne Thompson. She was loved and adored by numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial will be Thursday, May 14, 2020, at 12 pm at Mountain View Memory Gardens located in Maher, WV. No formal graveside services will be held.
