On March 13th at 7:55am at Bowers Hospice House. Joan went home to be with her Heavenly Father and family who went on before her.
Born July 14,1938 in Saxon, WV to the late Noel Theodore and Gracie "Daniel" Surratt.
Preceded in death by her loving husband George Preston Stover, Sister Lulabelle Acord, Brothers Robert, Joe and Lloyd Surratt, niece Regina Murphy.
Survivors include her son George Preston Stover, Jr. "Buckie" and his wife Kathy of Beckley, grandson Brandon Carter. Sisters Nola Acord of Bolt, Carol Surratt of Millville, NJ, Janet Birchfield and her companion Chris Neace of Ashland KY, Sisters-in-law Sheila and Phyllis Surratt.
Special niece Sharon Meadows of Glen Daniel, nieces Jenna, Sissie, Lora and Donna. Nephews Freddie, John, Michael, Lloyd Jr., Eric, Frankie, Terry, Brian, Kevin and Thomas.
Special great nieces Keirstyn and Kassidy Meadows, she enjoyed her time with thwm playing Doctor and Nurse, coloring and playing games. Morgan and Maddie Stover.
Joan loved and lived for God. She was a devout Christian, faithful prayer warrior and she was the lead singer with the Christian Cavaliers playing the guitar.
She was a lifelong member of Shiloh Community Church, Saxon WV.
Services will be on Monday, March 18th at 1:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Jerry Brooks and Doug Berkel officiating. The family will be receiving friends at 12 noon. The burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Frankie Stover, Brian Stover, Terry Stover, Brandon Carter, Danny Trump and Lance Dillon.
