Delores Rose Daniel Obituary
Delores Rose Daniel was born on December 29, 1936, and passed away June 2, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. Delores (Dee) was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt.
Dee was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Irene Lilly Saylor and Murl Saylor, whose guidance and love shaped her into the remarkable person we all admired. She carried their lessons and love forward in every action and interaction. Her beloved husband, Dennis B. Daniel, also preceded her death. Dennis and Dee were married more than 50 years. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Evelyn Meadows, Betty Stewart, Joan Hatfield, and Murl (Junior) Saylor. She has one living sister, Alura Ratcliff.
Other family members left to cherish her are her children Randall (Karen) Daniel, Dennis "Melvin" (Robin) Daniel, Carol (Cory) Kourtsis, and Jesse Edward "J.E." Daniel. Grandchildren are Joshua Daniel, Kara (Josh) Dye, Kaitlyn (Michael) Stover, Shelby Daniel, Elizabeth (Ricky) Talley, Daniel Kourtsis, Nico Kourtsis, and Dustin Daniel. Great grandchildren Noah Daniel, Richie and Ben Talley, Marshall Stover, and a new addition expected in August is Millie Rose Dye, and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family, and friends whom she loved dearly.
She was blessed to marry into the Daniel family in 1964, and moved to Glen Daniel, WV surrounded by loving neighbors and friends.
Dee graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1954. She held many fond memories of her high school friends. She and Dennis owned and ran Dee's Jiffy Mart for many years and then she retired.
Dee's life was one of service and joy. She dedicated herself to her community, her family, and to the simple pleasures that make life rich and fulfilling. Her laughter was infectious, her counsel wise, and her generosity knew no bounds. Some of the things she enjoyed the most were bingo with her sisters, Sunday dinners with her family, tea parties and dress up with her granddaughters and cooking for her grandsons. She was an active member of the Red Hats Society and especially enjoyed attending church. Bible study, and her women's group.
As we say goodbye to Dee, we also celebrate the indelible mark she left on our hearts. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from Hospice of Southern W.V., Beckley Health Care Center staff, Linda Lou Cooper, Janice Daniel, Donna Gibson, Anna Jarrell, Pastor Dewey Lowe, and Sharon Young. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity that was close to Dee's heart: Bower's Hospice House and The Salvation Army.
A service to commemorate Delores's life will be held on Monday June 10th, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Dewey Lowe, and Pastor Corey Brooks officiating.
