Donald Ray Amos Obituary

Donald Ray Amos Sr., age 74, of Shady Spring, West Virginia, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, West Virginia after a sudden illness.
Donald was born April 20, 1951 in Bluefield, West Virginia, the oldest son of the late Thelma Louise Amos. He was mostly raised by his maternal grandparents, the late William Amos and Ruth Pyne Amos of Rock Camp, West Virginia. Preceding him into the arms of God are his beloved wife, Mary Lee Brooks Amos; a daughter, Mischelle Lee Amos Trigo; and a brother, Gilbert Roscoe Amos.
Donald had three children; the late Mischelle Lee Amos Trigo (wife of Andrew Trigo and mother of Dakotah Trigo and Lisandra Trigo; April Amos Robertson (mother of Katherine "Katie" Robertson); and Donald Amos Jr. and his fiancée Loretta Byrge. He helped to raise two grandchildren who were to him, his children; Samuel "Thyler" Amos and Kaylee Nicole Amos, and their mother, Jessica Webb. He is also survived by a brother, Michael Amos and his wife, Jamie Mullins Amos of Rock Camp, WV and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donald had a good friend, Jeremy Platt, from Daniels, WV, who once saved his life after an ATV accident. For most of his life, he remained close to his wife's family from Greenbrier County.
Donald worked for Blythe Construction Company based in Charlotte, North Carolina, as a heavy equipment operator and was promoted to foreman after years of loyal service. In his free time, he loved woodwork, to sing and listen to gospel music, play his guitar and piano, and putter around the house non-stop.
Donald was a life-long follower of the Church of God. He asked to have a simple cremation and his ashes mixed with those of his wife. His immediate family will spend some time to share memories and celebrate his life at a date in the near future.
