Dorothy Ann (Wiley) Laverty

Dorothy, (Dot) 86, peacefully entered the kingdom of God on November 8, 2021, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV following a long illness.  She was born June 30, 1935, at Montcoal, WV, the daughter of Carl and Martha (Milam) Wiley.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Ersil (Earp); daughter Brenda (Philip) Perone of Saxon, WV; and two sons Danny (Rhonda) of Glen Daniel, WV and Lewis of Saxon, WV; sisters Freda McClung, Norma Daniel, Carol (Walt) Dutton, Annett (Paul) Wells, Jane (Roger) Mullins and brother Jerry (Debbie) Wiley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Larry, David (JoAnn) and James Carl Wiley (Lynn); sister Reba (Weber).

Dorothy grew up in the small community of Arnett, WV. She was a 1954 graduate of Marsh Fork High School at Montcoal, WV.

Ersil was the love of Dorothy’s life.  A game of cards (Old Maid) at a relative’s house started their budding romance.  After several years of dating, they tied the knot in 1954.  They celebrated 67 years together.  Their relationship produced three children, 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy loved her church and church family.  She and husband, Ersil, attended Flat Branch Baptist Church at Arnett for several years.

Dorothy loved the outdoors.  It wasn’t uncommon to see her pushing around a wheel barrel loaded with sticks.  Keeping the yard in order was a must.  The housework could wait.

Funeral services will be held at Flat Branch Baptist Church at Arnett, WV on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 1:00 pm with Andy Davis presiding.  Relatives and friends may visit 11 am – 1:00 pm.  Interment will follow services at the Laverty Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Hospice of Southern West Virginia: P.O.
