Dusty Ray Toney Obituary

Dusty Ray Toney passed away on September 15, 2025 at his home with his loving wife Beckey by his side. He was the son of Robert Kyle and Betty Matheny Toney, both deceased.

Dusty had 3 brothers, Robert Lewis (deceased) of Peterstown, Mark Allen of Sand Lick, and Brian Wayne of Rock Hill, South Carolina.

He and his wife Beckey celebrated 53 years of marriage.

Dusty was a 1967 graduate of Clear Fork High School. He participated in football and track. After graduation, Dusty proudly served in the United States Army completing Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was stationed in South Korea in the Dematerialized Zone until his separation from the service. Dusty came back home and began work in the coal mines. He worked for Consolidated Coal in Workman's Creek, Beckley Mines, Bonnie Mines, and Elk Run.

Dusty was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending as much time as he could fishing, hunting, or just camping in the woods. He loved to see his family together and cherished watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play in his yard.

A special Thank you to his lifelong friend, Clarence Meadows, who was always there through the good times and in times of great need. He could always be counted on for any assistance that Dusty or his family needed. Clarence has always been considered a brother of the Toney family, and we thank him so much for his friendship.

Dusty was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Kyle and Betty Matheny Toney, his older brother Robert Lewis Toney, and his grandson Dylan Jones.

He is survived by his wife Beckey and their children, Trenton, Heather Dawn (John Boy Holstein), and Robert Toney (Natalie); grandchildren, Devon (Brittney), Kate, Natalia, Layla, and Amelia; great grandchildren, Brielle, Bryer, Sawyer, Grayson, and Lacy May all of whom he adored.

As per Dusty's request his body was cremated with no funeral service. However, there will be a Memorial Service, Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the Workman's Creek Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 5:00pm and the memorial service will start at 6:00pm.
