Edith Ruth Wilcox, age 101 died peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2021 at the home of her dedicated care-givers John and Barbara Kinley in Oak Hill, WV. She was the daughter of Maude Duckworth Martin and Ernest Martin of Westernport, MD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clay A. Wilcox in October 2003. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Also preceding her in death are her sisters Hazel Morris and Fern Green Niland Striplin. She is survived by her children Sally Largent (Jim), Thomas Glass (Sheila), Robert Wilcox (Jean), and Mary Sue Adkins (Rick); 13 grandchildren Jacob Adkins, Jerrod Adkins, Rob Wilcox, Clay Wilcox, Matt Hawkins, Faith Quintela, Sandy Paugh, Josh Glass, Cody Glass, Sarah Glass, Michael Amoroso, Lou Amoroso, John Amoroso; special great-granddaughter Krissy McMillan; and a great-great-granddaughter Madisyn McMillan.
Edith was graduated from Bruce High in 1938 and married Clay Wilcox in 1948. She was a dedicated Girl Scout Leader, a charter member volunteer at Raleigh General Hospital beginning in 1973, serving as vice-president for 5 years and president for 2. Edith, affectionately known as "Granny" to old and young alike, was an extraordinary cook and baker, leading to her being featured in the Raleigh Register for her luscious Christmas candy that she started making months before the holiday.
Granny had an infectious laugh that evoked joy, and she was tireless, fearless, and devout.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 1 pm - 2 pm at Boal Funeral Services, 111 Church St., Westernport, MD 21562. A celebration of Granny's life will begin at 2 pm. A reception will follow services.
