Edward "Ed" Lee Richmond

Edward Lee Richmond was born on June 23, 1927 in Eccles, West Virginia to his late parents Luther "Rich" Hayes and Clarabell "Claire" Lee (Pittman) Richmond. He went home on May 23, 2022 at the Oak Hill Place Assisted Living Facility at the age of 94.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Joann Coleman Richmond; parents Rich and Clarabell; daughter Dona McBride; brother Lowell Samuel Richmond; and his special aunt Mabel Pittman.

Ed is survived by his daughter Ellen C. Toney; grandsons Tass Toney and Dane Toney and his husband Joshua Sweeny; and close family friends David and Donna Souder and their daughter Mary; and many more friends and neighbors who will miss him.

Ed was a committed Christian who attended the United Methodist Temple for over 50 years.  He has been a devoted follower of Jesus Christ since his baptism at the age of 16.  

Ed was known in Beckley for his career with Prudential Insurance for over 30 years until his retirement in the early 80's.  Following his retirement he found joy raising sheep, farming and piddling around in his barn until he reached his mid-80's.
He was a caring and giving man to all, loved people, and always had a positive outlook on life.  Ed was a true gentleman, husband, and father.

The family would like to acknowledge the special care and love given to Ed from the staff of Oak Hill Place and Hospice of Southern WV.  

Cremation has been entrusted to Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center. Interment will be held at a later date at the Davis Cemetery on Maple Fork Rd.
