Ellis Carldean Mitchem

Ellis Carldean Mitchem, 76, passed away Friday June 10, 2022, following a long illness. Born November 10, 1945, at Kimball WV he is the son of the late Albert Lee and Dorothy Bertha Burks Mitchem. He was affectionately known as Grumpy Paw Paw to the great grandchildren.
Mr. Mitchem is a retired hospital Maintenance worker, working at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital with 42 years of faithful service. Mr. Mitchem was a member of the Maple Meadow Chapel Baptist Church, Fairdale WV.
Other than his parents he is preceded by a son Ellis Wayne Mitchem, a grandson Brandon Owen Mitchem, a great granddaughter Autumn Brooks. One brother Okey Mitchem and 4 sisters; Jane Webb, Oma Bowman, Chystial Ramsey and Threasia June Mitchem
Surviving is his wife of 56 years Deloris Blake - Mitchem, a daughter Teresa Gunter (Bill) a sister Irene Sullivan (Kent), a brother Jeremy Mitchem (Vicky). Daughter-in-law Melissa Mitchem
Grandchildren; Melody Kerns, (Matt). Donald Brooks (Amy), Matthew Brooks, Joseph Day (Amanda), Kristina Clay (Daniel), Shane Gunter (Amber), Meranda Clinebell (Brandon), Danielle Mitchem. Great grandchildren include Sophie, Macee, Levi, Darren, Alana, Tristan, Kayleigh, David, Serenity, Trent, Gabriella, Braylon, Adalyn, Skye, Mila, Remi, Allexia, Avalyn, Alaynah. A host of nieces and nephews who also love and miss him very, very much.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the Melton Mortuary Chapel, 1200 Harper Road, Beckley WV., with Pastor’s Tommy Blake and Frank Vance officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
