Elroy Dayton Sawyers, age 70, of Lester, West Virginia, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, West Virginia.

Elroy was born October 04, 1954 in Beckley, West Virginia, a son of the late Joseph and Geneva Redstein. Elroy was brought up Baptist. He was an auto mechanic, rebuilding transmissions, with AAA Transmissions for 35 years. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, building race cars, dirt track racing, and his farm, and livestock. He was a graduate of Trap Hill High School.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Sam Sawyers, Red Sawyers, and Steve Sawyers, and his late wife Debbie Sawyers.

He is survived by his son, Doug Sawyers (Jamie) of Buckhannon, WV; grandson Hunter Sawyers; sisters Joyce Permelia, and Kay Cochran; companion Linda Waddell, and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who will all miss Elroy dearly.
