Dr. Emma C. Villanueva, 86, Beloved Mother and Grandmother

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dr. Emma C. Villanueva on February 26, 2025 at the age of 86. A dedicated and compassionate physician, she devoted her life to the care and well-being of others, touching countless lives through her work in medicine. She worked for the Beckley-Raleigh County Health Department as medical director until retiring in 2015. She served in many medical missions to the Philippines. She was also a faithful parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.

Beyond her career, Dr. Villanueva was a devoted wife, loving mother and adoring grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her family. Her greatest joy came from the laughter and love of her grandchildren, with whom she shared endless stories, wisdom, and affection.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cirilo, and is survived by her children: Karen (Mark), Michele, and Tricia; and her treasured grandchildren: Nicholas, Emma Grace, Cooper, Brooklyn, Alexis and Isabella who will forever carry her love in their hearts.

Dr. Villanueva will be remembered for her kindness, intelligence, and unwavering dedication to both her patients and her family. Her sudden passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her legacy of love and care will continue through those she inspired.

The family will be receiving family and friends Friday evening, March 7 from 5pm to 8 pm at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Prayer Vigil starting at 7:00pm. The Funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, March 8 at 11am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with a lunch and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to St. Francis de Sales Church in memory of Dr. Emma C. Villanueva.

She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
