Ernest Wayne Tucker

Ernest Wayne Tucker of Beckley passed away on Sunday, May 7th, 2023, at Raleigh General Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest William "Jim" and Hazel Bragg Tucker and his granddaughter, Jennifer Jagdon.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Gloria Vila Tucker; his daughters, Sherri Lynn Jeffries (Mark) and Lora Lea Keiser (Ted); Gloria's sister, Rosalie Allen of Richmond, Virginia and several cousins and his favorite cat, Cookie. Wayne is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher Poore (Alexis), Kelsey Lynn Jeffries and Noah Jeffries; great grandchildren, Trinity Rainn Gambrell, Henry Killian Manuel Jeffries and Lane Hawkins.
A graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Wayne attended Beckley College and was inducted into the Woodrow Wilson Hall of Fame. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing. In addition to outdoor activities, Wayne participated in competitive shooting tournaments, winning several awards. Wayne was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ , serving as an elder and a Deacon. He was also a referee for the WVSSAC.
Wayne retired from the Beckley Fire Department with 28 years of service. During his time at the Fire Department, he participated in the Honor Guard and Fire Prevention.
The funeral will be Thursday, May 11th at 1:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. The burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family is receiving friends at 11:00 am. Wayne will be given Fireman Honors.
