Gary J. Stover, 65, of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away following a short illness on December 20, 2025.


Gary worked as a truck driver for most of his life, a career that suited his hardworking nature and steady dedication. He was known for his quick wit and classic dad jokes, always ready to make someone smile, even in the toughest moments. Above all else, Gary loved his family deeply and took pride in being there for them in both big and small ways. Recently, he found comfort and peace through his faith, which brought him reassurance and hope.


He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Stover; his children Phillip Stover and wife Cora Stover, of Glen Ferris, WV, and daughter Crystal Foster, of North Miami Gardens, FL; and his son Richard Stover, of Hollywood, FL. He was a proud grandfather to Miranda Stover and Justice Foster.
Gary is also survived by his siblings: Rocky Stover, of Oak Hill, WV; Raymond Stover and wife Leigh, of Beckley, WV; Dora Brooks and husband Randall, of Oak Hill, WV; and Stanley Stover and wife Gail, of Maple Fork, WV; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.


A private visitation will be held at Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center in Beckley, WV, on Friday, December 26th, 2025 from 5:00-6:00 p.m.


Gary will be remembered for his humor, his kindness, his strong work ethic, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
