Gene Preston Davis Jr., 45 of Fairdale, West Virginia, passed away on March 19th, 2025. Born on June 28th, 1979 in Beckley, West Virginia he was the son of Gene Davis Sr., and Cathy Davis.

Gene worked in the natural gas field for Diversified Energy for close to twenty years, before he got sick from Gillian Barre Syndrome. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, hotrods, race cars, guns, working on cars, loved his goats, and dogs. He was always ready to help if someone needed help. He could work and rebuild anything, a man of many skills. He was always found to be smiling. He enjoyed his time at Camp WooHoo on the Greenbrier River.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents Owen and Vercie Davis, who thought the world of him, and Hansel and Laura Rakes, and Arthur Alberty, step nephew Alex, and several uncles and aunts.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years Angel, son Duke Davis of Fairdale, father and stepmother Gene and Diana, mother Cathy Davis of Beckley, brother Jason Davis and his companion Christa Jarrell of Fairdale, Niece Jaelyn Davis, step sisters Tonya Carter, and Davin Ball, step nieces Brylea, Kenzie, Gracelyn, and Maddie, step nephew CJ, and several uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends. Special friends that were more like family, Donnie, Christie, Casey, and Layne Lafferty and girlfriend Brooklyn, and kids Oakley, and Owen, Todd and Jenny Gerladen, and Jesse Acord, Kevin, and his wife Anna, Tanner, and Levi Linville, Matt Stover, second mom and dad Donnie Sr., and Mary Lafferty, special great-grandparents Jurdon, and Shirley, and mother in law Shirley Ayers.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and support staff at Beckley and Hazzard KY ARH for all of their love, care , and compassion shown to Gene and family during his illness.

A celebration of Gene's life will take place on Thursday March 27, 2025 at the Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church at 7:00pm with Pastor Jeff Perdue officiating. The family will accept visitors two hours prior beginning at 5:00pm. The family requests that you dress as if you are going for a hunt with Gene, because he is hunting all the time now.
