George "Audie" Arthur Griffith

George “Audie” Arthur Griffith, 75 of Beckley, WV was called to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV following a short illness.

He was born May 27, 1945 in Jonben, WV, a son of the late George Noah Griffith and Zelphia Ann Bolen Griffith.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Noah Junior Griffith of Beckley, WV and William Clifford Griffith of Mabscott, WV and his sister Alice Talitha Griffith Lilly of Fireco, WV.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 48 years, Joyce Griffith of Beckley, WV; sister Anna Lee Griffith of Mabscott, WV; daughters Leona (Kevin) Wills of Glen Daniel, WV, Lora (Stephen) Lawson of Princeton, WV, and Jessica Griffith of Bluefield, WV; granddaughters Nikki Wills of Beckley, WV, Jessalyn (Michael) Lannen of Meadow Bridge, WV, and Brianna O’Neal of Bluefield, WV; grandson Nicolas O’Neal of Princeton, WV and great-grandson, who was the light of his world, Dean Asher Tomlin of Bluefield, WV; several nieces, nephews, and a very loving church family at Mabscott Baptist Church.

Audie was a veteran of the US Army and was a disabled coal miner.  He loved playing guitar, spending time with those whom he loved.  He loved working on dirt track race cars and watching dirt track races when he was able.

A Celebration of Audie’s life will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Mabscott Baptist Church at 6:00 pm with Marty Stalnaker officiating.  Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meltonmortuary.com  Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center has the honor of serving the family.
