It is with great sadness that the best husband, father and grandpa George Douglas Hager, of Glen Daniel, West Virginia, went to his forever home of hunting and fishing on August 9, 2024, at the age of 85, at his loving home.

George was born October 14, 1938 to the late George and Sally Hager. He was also preceded in death by his four sisters; Patsy, Joann, Opel and Mozelle, along with two grandsons, Donovan Cochran and Adam Surratt.

George worked for Consolidated Coal Company for many years. Once he retired you could always find him working in his garden, hunting, fishing, or spending time in his swing catching up with his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 60 years, Ora Jane, whom he loved with every ounce of his being. His children, Dougie (Joyce) of Glen Daniel, Ellen (Robert) of Coal City who took great care of him in his final months, Gregory (Nora) of Glen Daniel, Edwin (Sandy) of North Carolina, Sandra of Beckley, Elizabeth (James) of Beckley, Douglas 'Henry' of Glen Daniel. Grandchildren; Patrick, Josh (Alicia), Gregory (Kayla), Troy (Katherine), Amber (BJ), Kayla (Kevin), Seth, Mavis and Haven. Great grandchildren; Adalyn, Brooklyn, Kolbie, Tucker, Douglas, Trysten, Ashur, Oaklee, Elroy, Larkin, Dolly and Stetson. Along with a host of many more family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the Matsville Community Church, Mattsville, WV with brother Robert Rutledge officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Snuffer Cemetery at Lake Stephens. Those carrying him to his final resting place will be his son's and grandson's.
