Obituary

George (GB) Hale left us to be with the angels on May 21, 2021. George fought a courageous battle with cancer for several years before he left for heaven.

George was born first son to Jack C. Hale and Helen Lusk Hale of Welch Pineville Rd., Welch, WV on June 8, 1959.

George graduated from Concord College and College of West Virginia before graduating as a top honor student from West Virginia University (WVU) with a Masters Degree on May 14, 2000. He passed the WV Board of Examiners Social Workers Certification on March 3, 2005. Prior to obtaining his Masters Degree George continued his education as a machinist and took top honors for The West Virginia 1991 Precision Machinist, and ranked 13th for the entire United States in the VICA United States Skill Olympics held at Louisville, KY.

George was also a talented MIG and TIG welder often recognized and won many awards for his skills. During his employment as a Social Worker, George was recognized for his dedication to transporting families and children out of neglectful and abusive situations. He will be remembered for using his own resources to provide gifts to occupy children's time during their trip to safety.

George enjoyed fishing and that is how he spent most of his spare time.

GB was preceded in death by his father, Jack C. Hale; his mother, Helen C. Hale and his younger brother Jeff Hale.

He is survived by three sisters, Charlene Hale of 525 Temple St., Beckley, WV, Jacqueline Hale Jarrell of Cool Ridge and Mary Hale of California. He is also survived by his niece Sarah Logan Hale and his nephew Patrick McDowell Hale. He will be long remembered by his lifelong friend Roger Peake and his wife Lou Peake.

He had made his home in Beckley, WV and passed away at Bowers Hospice Center, Beckley.

Anyone who met George was touched by his gentle spirit and the kind vibes he would send out.

In lieu of flowers, George would have preferred donations to your local women and children's shelters.
