On Sunday, January 12th, 2025, Georgia Daniel the last living child of Thurman and Liza Pettry Daniel of Saxon passed away at the age of 88.

Born on March 31st, 1936 at Posey Saxon, Georgia was the youngest of ten children born to Thurman and Liza. Her brothers, Carl, Clyde, Raymond, Kyle, Quinford, Winford and Arthur and two sisters, Marie and Elise have all preceded her in death. A large extended family of nieces and nephews and their children and families survive.

Georgia worked as a payroll clerk in the mining industry. She was a faithful member of the Beckley Regular Baptist Church. When we think of Georgia, she will be remembered for her soft spoken manner and her impeccable dress. She always looked nice. She had a great fondness for her siblings and their families. In the last years of her life, Georgia and her sister above her in age, Elsie made their home together and greatly enjoyed being together.

This Thursday, January 16th at 1:00 pm there will be a "Service of Remembrance" in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Ken Smith will be officiating. Friends may call at noon. Due to inclement weather the burial will be private at a later time.

And now the circle is complete. Georgia goes home to the family burying ground above the old home place. She will rest high on that mountain beside Elsie and all her family that has gone on before her.
