Grady Mitchell Hoskins

Grady Mitchell Hoskins, 84, of Beckley West Virginia passed from this life Thursday, January 9, 2025, age 84, with loving family by his side at home.

Grady was born August 18, 1940 in Sweeneyburg West Virginia to Eva Jewel Stover and George Windell Hoskins, being the third of eight children.

Grady attended Woodrow Wilson High School. At a young age he worked at Royal Crown Bottling in Beckley. He retired from Flowers Bakery after 38 years of service. He was a life-long Christian and attended Memorial Baptist Church.

He loved hunting, fishing, digging ginseng, gardening, working on the family farm and was an avid reader.


He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was predeceased by his parents; his siblings Margaret Louise (Hoskins) Barber, Oma Janice (Hoskins) Nicely, Georgina (Hoskins) Zyto, Patricia Ann Hoskins and Harold Gene Hoskins.

Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife of 45 years, Peggy Hoskins; His daughter Rebecca Lynn (Herbert "Bert" Beadle, III); Son and caregiver Stephen Smith; Brothers Howard Hoskins (Patricia) and Harry Hoskins (Nancy); Grandsons Derek Smith (Beverly) and Herbert "Alan" Beadle, IV. Granddaughter Mary Ruth Beadle (Daniel); Sister-in-law Jean Ormandy; many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was blessed with loving caregivers, Hilda Wilburn and Nancy Wells.

Friends may call at noon on Tuesday, January 14th at Melton's Mortuary, 1200 Harper Road, Beckley, WV. Service will follow at 1:00 PM with Dr. James Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
