Grethe H Morgan

On July 4, 2020, in the Bowers Hospice House at 4:00 am Mrs. Grethe H. Morgan, age 83, the loving wife of Robert A. Morgan Jr. died of natural causes and passed into eternity leaving several friends and a grieving husband.  Grethe was born in Denmark in 1937.  She had one brother and two sisters who have since passed.

Because of a family problem, she had a troubled childhood, and at the time of birth was given to a step-mother to be raised.  Because her family was entertainers, they wanted her to become part of the act but she had stage fright and was placed in Catholic school.  Because of this, she was banned from the family and throughout her childhood and early years never received a birthday or Christmas gift from her family.  She was gifted in school and an accomplished learner and spoke three languages.

When she graduated in 1955 she married an English officer and moved to England and had one son.  The marriage ended in divorce, and in 1975 she met her current husband in England.  When he returned to the states in 1976 she followed him shortly after, and in 1979 they were married.

She worked for the American Psychological Association as a secretary for the International Relations and was responsible for travel, eventually becoming a travel coordinator.  In 1984 she established and incorporated a travel agency with her husband.  Her husband became a full-time employee in 1988 when he retired from the U.S. Government.  The agency was sold in 2006 and in 2007 they moved to Daniels, West Virginia, and built a house in Glade Springs.

She leaves a loving husband, a son in England, and is now freed of her early childhood experiences and has found the peace, tranquility, and happiness she has so long searched for.  Now she is in God’s World and our world will be a little bit sadder because we have lost a kind caring person who always went out of her way to help the less fortunate.  

A memorial service for Grethe will be held at the Glade Springs Community Church in Glade Springs on Sunday, July 19th, 2020 at 11:30 AM following morning services.
