Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband William (Bill) Cox; second husband Sidney (Sid) Bonds; and infant son David. Brothers: Shirley, Wilbur, Russell, and Elmet; Sisters: Doris, Garnet, and Hester.

She is survived by one sister; Joyce Lynch of Asheboro, North Carolina; one sister-in-law: Janet of Corinne; three sons: Bob and wife Debbie of Amigo, Tom and wife Billie of Stotesbury, and Rusty and wife Peggy of Tobaccoville, NC; Grandchildren: Brian, Dennis and wife Tracy, Tommy and wife Andrea, Kathy and husband Jeremiah, Amanda and Jash; 14 Great-grandchildren; 1 Great-great grandchild and one on the way. Many nieces, nephews, and numerous other loved ones also survive.

At the age of 18, she left home to move to Maryland to become a Rosie the Riveter (a member of the greatest generation). She helped build ammunition for the World War II efforts. After returning, she worked in a boarding house in Stotesbury, WV as a cook. Here, she met & married William (Bill) Cox. She then became a homemaker. She & Bill were married until his death in 1976. She later married Sid Bonds in 1978. They were married until his death in 2000.

She faithfully attended Stotesbury Community Church where she was secretary/treasurer for many years. She was the “mother” of the church and kept the church alive. She started and maintained a food pantry at the church for many years.

She was involved in Community Action serving her community for many years. She was very community minded. Always eager to help anyone in need. She made the connection between people who could help & those that needed it. She will he missed by her community.

She was always full of energy. She loved making quilts, sewing, crocheting, crafts, baking, canning, bowling. Anything she could be involved in. She bowled 2 days a week until way up in her years. Not much could slow her down. For her 88th birthday, she went zip lining at Burning Rock to raise money for New Salem Baptist Church, her close friend Queen Schoolfield’s Church. She had the best time & had a great turnout for the event!
