Ibra Leonard Moses Jr.
Ibra Leonard Moses, Jr., 77, of Beckley peacefully departed this world on January 4, 2020, after a brave battle with cancer. Leonard was born May 14, 1942, in Pulaski, VA, but spent most of his life in the Beckley area.
Leonard was preceded in death by his father, Ibra Leonard Moses, Sr.; three brothers, Raby Moses, Gene Moses, and Wayne Moses; and his long-time companion, Debra Roark.
He is survived by his only daughter, Deborah K. (Fredrick) Lamey of Beckley; his mother, Ella Mae Moses of Vernon-Rockville, CT; brother, Jack Farmer of East Hartford, CT; mother of his daughter, Evelyn K. Moses; mother-in-law, Clara K. Childs; nieces and nephews who spent many summers at his and Evelyn’s home where they were always treated like their own; and other extended family members, as well as the children and grandchildren of Debra Roark, all of whom loved him very much.
Leonard spent his life working construction, driving large trucks, operating heavy equipment of any kind, and repairing anything for anyone who needed his help. All who knew him, know he had a kind and loving heart and would do anything to help someone else, whether it was a friend or family member or just a stranger stranded beside the highway.
In his spare time even into this 70s, he could be found outside somewhere piddling and working on a vehicle or piece of equipment, mowing his yard, or just taking a walk. He loved to walk around Little Beaver Lake and enjoyed hiking with his daughter in the New River Gorge.
Leonard was cremated as he wished, and the family requests that instead of gifts, that a donation be given to Hospice of Southern WV or a charity of your choice in his memory.
