Jack Strother Obituary

          Jackie Lee Strother, 82 of Bolt WV, moved from this life to his heavenly home on August 31 after a short illness.  Born February 2, 1938, in Mannington WV  he was the son of the late Lee E. and Thelma Critchfield Strother.

          Jack was a faithful member of Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and trustee for many years.  After retiring from Consolidated Natural Gas, with 36 years of service, he enjoyed working around the church and in is his woodshop.  He became affectionately known as the mayor of Bolt.

          In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Daniel Strother, a great-grandson Damien Vazquez.

          Survivors left to cherish his memory include his wife of 63 years Clella Huffman Strother, a son Jeffrey and wife Sherry Strother of Lillydale,  daughter Carrie and husband Jimmy Bradford of Bolt.  A brother James and wife Virginia Strother of Weston. Two sisters-in-law Aileen and husband Edsel Taylor of St. Albans and Marilyn Strother of Louisville, Ky.  Six grandchildren Sabrina Bradford of Bolt, Daniel, and wife Brittany Bradford of Winchester Va. Amanda and husband Michael Sanders of Lillyhaven, Brittney Strother of Lillydale, Emily Strother of Lillydale, Amy and husband Jay Vazquez of Lillydale.  Four great-grandchildren Jameson Bradford, Marley, Athena, and Ashur Vazquez.

          A celebration of Jackie's life will be held on September 3rd,  3 pm at the church with the Rev. Dewey Lowe and Rev. Cory Brooks officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  The entombment service will be held on September 4th at 11 am at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.   

          In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund P.O. Box 100 Fairdale WV 25839  or the Scholarship Fund P.O. Box 396 Bolt, WV c/o Raylene Caron.  Also, donations can be made to Hospice of Southern WV P.O. Box 1472 Beckley, WV 25802-1472.
