James “Jim” A Brown, 83, of Crab Orchard, received his Heavenly promotion on Tuesday, April 30 with his wife, Janet, by his side.
Jim was born October 28, 1935, to the late James L and Beatrice Lilly Brown in Stanaford, WV.
He married his bride, Janet Gills on February 8, 1957 at Hilltop Baptist Church in Crab Orchard.
For the last 28 years along with his wife and family he has operated J and J Kountry Korner in Crab Orchard.
He was active member of the Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church where he served several years as the Sunday School Superintendent. He also sang in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jimmy (JB); and a sister, Gwen Servert Hicks. He is survived by his wife Janet; two daughters Kim (Paul) Schultz of Chicago and Sherri (Andy) Burleson of Crab Orchard; daughter-in-law Susie Brown Fama (Andy) of Crab Orchard; Grandchildren Tiffany Meadows, Brittany Meadows, Brandon Meadows (Amber) all of Crab Orchard; Erin (Eric) Linnell and Michael (Kiera) Schultz all of Chicago, IL; Ashley (Trevor) Moore of Milton, WV; Great Grandchildren Lexy, Ethan, Harper and Oliver; a sister Alice (Everett) Hotzapfel of Crab Orchard, a brother Paul Brown of Crab Orchard and several nieces and nephews.
Please join his family at Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church 115 Crab Orchard Avenue for a celebration of his life. The family will receive friends on Friday May 3 from 6-9 pm. Funeral services will be on Saturday May 4 at 11 am. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
