Mr. James Garfield Bennett, age 66, of White Oak, West Virginia, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

James was born February 14, 1959 in Jacksonville, Florida, a son of the late Paul Bennett and Marie Nutter. He married the love of his life, Angela Wilburn Bennett on June 7th, 1996 in Beckley WV. James was brought up Pentecostal and attended the congregation of Shady Spring Pentecostal Holiness Church. James worked in construction for most of his life doing carpentry and plumbing work in which he really enjoyed building. In his later years he worked at Wal-Mart in Beckley WV. In his free time James enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his loveable dog Charlie who was his baby. James was a devout Christian man as well and above all enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, James is greeted just outside the Eastern Gate by his sisters Donna, and Anita, and brothers Kenneth, and Luther "B.B".


Those left on Earth to cherish and forever hold his memory close, are his loving wife of 29 years Angela Wilburn-Bennett of White Oak, WV, two sons, James Garfield Bennett Jr(Amber) of Oak Hill, WV, Robert Bennett(Mayara) of Virginia Beach, Va, three daughters, Shannon Neely of Fayetteville, WV, Shannon Epling of Columbus OH, Chassity Shiflett of Elkins, WV, stepdaughter, Mona(Brandon) Hinkle of Beckley, WV, stepson Clifford Kirk of Beckley, WV, sister Brenda Maynor(Scotty) of Kincaid, WV, eleven grandchildren, and a special niece Annabelle Wilburn, and her daughter Azzy both of White Oak, WV, and many other extended family and friends who will all miss James dearly.

The family requests that if you feel led to please offer a memorial donation in James honor and memory to Hospice of Southern WV. The family would like to also offer special thanks to the nurses, doctors, and all staff at Hospice of Southern WV for all of their love, care, and compassion that was shown to them. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center who are honored to serve the family during this difficult time. The family will hold a private memorial service.
