James Robert Flannery, age 60, of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 after a long battle with illness.

James was born May 10, 1965 in Ashland, Pennsylvania, a son of Robert Flannery and Ethel Ballangee. Even though James was born in Pennsylvania, West Virginia was always his home.

James married the love of his life, Kathy Denice Meadows, and they had a wonderful 40 years together before his passing.

James honored his country by enlisting in the West Virginia National Guard in 1986. He honorably served for 4 years before he discharged from service.

After his military service, James worked in many fields. He worked hard at everything he did and became a "jack of all trades" through his experience. James ended his career as a Truck Driver transporting Coal Equipment around several states.

In his spare time, James loved to play video games, Dungeons and Dragons, and other recreational activities. Those that knew James, know that he loved to have a good laugh and build happy memories.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Flannery and Ethel Ballangee; close in-laws, Kenneth and Barbara Meadows; and close friend who was a brother to him, Kevin Hill.

Those left to cherish James' memory are his loving wife and other half, Kathy Flannery; two daughters, Tiffany (Reece) Johnson and Kayleen (Derick) Jordan; 4 grandsons, Rashad, Kyree, Kylo, and Zion; 1 granddaughter, Peyton; two brothers, Dewayne and Timmy; his 13 year old fur baby, Tucker; and other family and friends who will miss him dearly.

In accordance with his wishes, a Memorial to honor James will be held at a later date. Service dates and times will be announce when they have been determined. Any flowers or cards of condolence can be sent to his family's home.
