James Harmon Keene, age 85, of Roanoke, Virginia and formerly of Glen Daniel, WV, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025 in Roanoke, VA.
James was born December 08, 1939 in Swords Creek, Virginia, a son of Charlie and Florence Ethel (Elkins) Keene.
James was a true WV Coal Miner at Harris #1 for 32 years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and spending time with his dog, named ' Lucille'.
Along with his parents, James is also preceded in death by his loving wife of over 42 years, Emma Jean (Morgan) Keene; brothers Mitchell, Ronnie, and Harley Keene; sister Betty Lou Meadows.
James is survived by his daughters Bethel Paynter, Sandra Smith, Ellen Soliman, Michelle Borden, Kimberly Bradford, and Teresa Ward; sons Roger Keene and James Keene; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his beloved best friend and boston terrier named Dog.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025 from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM with Deacon Mike Furey officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.
