Jane T. Cook, 87 of Sophia, West Virginia went to be with her lord and savior on Saturday, January 9, 2021.
Daughter of the late Earl Thacker and Kelsie Fuller Hensley.
Jane loved going to church and her church family. She was a founding member of the Bible Baptist Church in MacArthur. She enjoyed reading books and singing in the church choir. She taught Sunday School for many years and enjoyed working in the John and Romans Ministry. She worked and retired from Sears Roebuck Co. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Harry D. Cook Sr.
Along with her brothers John Thacker, James Thacker of Arizona, Fred Thacker of Georgia, Daniel Thacker of Virginia, sisters Ann Miller of Kentucky and Patricia Piggott Gerth of Minnesota.
Left to cherish her memory is her brother Bob Thacker of Kentucky, sisters Mary Maldovan and Martha Hatfield of Kentucky, her two sons, H. David Cook, Jr. and wife Kathy of Sophia, West Virginia and Steve Cook of Illinois. Granddaughter Samantha Belcher and husband Elden of Sophia, WV, Katie Sutphin and husband Marty of Midway, WV, grandson Jason Cook of Illinois. Along with two great grandchildren Alexander and Zachary Belcher of Sophia. Along with countless nieces and nephews.
Service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 beginning at 12:00. Arrangements made by Melton Mortuary in Beckley with only graveside rights at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley. Only family is welcome to visit and say their goodbyes from 10:30-11:30 at Melton with others welcome to follow at the graveside beginning at 12:00 pm. Officiating will be Rev. Charlie Brown.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association so others may find peace with this disease someday.
