Janice Marie Covey (Granny), age 88 of Glen Daniel, WV passed away on Sunday August 3, 2025 at home.
Janice was born on April 9, 1937, to the late Arthur and Norma Richardson of Maple Meadow. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Donald, Eddie, Delmar, and Larry; sisters, Opal Richardson Birchfield, and Freeda Carothers; infant daughter, Susan Darlene Covey; son, Jimmy Covey; grandson, Derek Covey.
She is survived by her brother Troy Richardson and wife Tressie; sons, Roy Covey and companion Christine Lilly, Dairen Covey and wife Jennifer, ex daughter-in-law of many years, Vicki; daughter-in-law, Connie Canterbury; nephews, David (Pickle) Carothers and wife Patricia, Kevin Richardson and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Cassie, John (Opie), Rebecca, Michael (Mikey), Jessica (Jessie) and fiancé Cory, Lora, Joseph, Tommy; great-grandchildren, Allyson, Avah, Brody, Caylee, Cooper, Crystal, Gracie, Joey, Jon, Jonah, Kasey, Kelsey, Michael, Molly, Noah, Sunny Day (Miranda), Raegan, Tanner, and Trevor.
Janice, also known as Granny loved watching her old shows like The Andy Griffith show and the Price is Right with Bob Barker. She was the neighborhood Granny of Fairdale bottom, all the kids hung out in her yard.
Her wishes were for her to be cremated so there will be a viewing for family and friends held at Melton Mortuary on Harper Rd, Friday August 8, 2025 at 10am.
