Mrs. Joanne Halsey was rewarded with her angel wings on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 2nd, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William, and Martha Underwood of Mabscott, WV. Joanne was a graduate of the 1946 class of Woodrow Wilson High School. After high school she attended Beckley College for secretarial skills. She married the love of her life Jack Halsey in 1957 with whom she spent the best years of her life.

In addition to her parents, and husband she is also preceded in death by her brother William James "Jim" Underwood Jr., and sister Patty McCormick. Those left to forever hold and cherish her memory are her brothers Donald(Jackie) Underwood of Durham, NC, and Gary(Karla) Underwood of St. Albans, WV, Sister Betty Basham of Mabscott, WV, and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family, friends, and church family who will all miss Joanne dearly.

Joanne was a devout Christian woman, a lifetime member of the Mabscott United Methodist Church, and a loving woman to all of her family and friends.

A graveside funeral service will take place for Joanne on Saturday November 16th, 2024 at 1:00pm at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Pastor David Rumberg officiating. The family will accept friends beginning at 11:00am in the Melton Mortuary Chapel until 12:00pm whereupon procession will depart for Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff and doctors at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center, and to Kanawha Hospice for all of their love, care, and compassion shown to the family during this difficult journey.
