John Combs Obituary
John Frank Combs, 89 of Glen Daniel, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 26, 2022. John was born at Posey Saxon, WV, on September 15, 1932.
He was the son of the late Perry and Cresa Webb Combs. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Gunnoe Combs; sons, Timmy and Gregory Combs; son-in-law Michael Nicholson; brothers, Jack, Leonard and Lawrence Combs; sisters Beulah Stiles and Myrtle McMillion; and sister-in-law Patsy Combs.
John was a disabled coal miner. He enjoyed old western shows and movies, digging ginseng and watching his beloved Cincinnati Reds play baseball! He enjoyed spending time with family the most. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church where he was saved.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Brenda Combs Nicholson of VA, a son Larry (Teresa) of NC, and a daughter-in-law, Icie Combs of WV; grandchildren Tara and James (Angie) Scott, Jessica Bloomingdale, Tiffany and Brandon Nicholson, Travis and Cody Combs, Amber Bowman, Sonya Hill, Amy Irvin, Deanna Williams, and Tina Combs; great grandchildren Kirsten and Mark Spence, TJ Hogan, Tyler and James Scott, Jr., Kelli, David, Kaitlyn and Shawn Covell, Johnathan (Amy), Jayden and Michael Bloomingdale, Briana Combs, Caitlin and Emma Irvine, Chastity, Serenity, Zarina, Rashad and Kinsley Williams; great great grandchildren Blaine and Brilegh Spence, and Aspynn Bloomingdale; A special niece Pamela Combs Lucas and her husband Bo who were his caregivers while at home; a brother Teddy Combs; sisters-in-law, Daisy and Brenda Combs; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends .
The family would like to thank the physicians, nurses and all those at Stonerise Healthcare in Beckley who helped care for John.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church, Bolt, WV, with Pastor Corey Brooks officiating.
