John Clinton Massie Obituary

John Clinton Massie, better known as "Goober", 64, passed away on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025.

Born on November 14th, 1960, in Mullens, West Virginia, he was the son of the late James and Betty (Hash) Massie.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Darrell Gillespie.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his siblings, Gene (Sharon) Massie, Ronnie (Kim) Massie, Sharon (Anthony) Reed, Donna (Gary) Martin, Renee (David) Stauffer, and Tina Gillespie; a host of nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

John served in the United States Army and was discharged honorably. Following his discharge, he worked as a mechanic at Davis Auto for years and later moved south where he was a construction contractor until his health didn't allow him to work.

In keeping with John's wishes, he will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held for him at the Melton Mortuary Funeral Chapel. The family invites those that want to honor his memory to come and share stories and remember him from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025.
