On Thursday, March 13th, 2025, Johnnie Cozart Sr, 87, of Fairdale, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord.

Johnnie was the youngest of five children. He was born on November 26, 1937, and he grew up in Posey Saxon, West Virginia. Johnnie was the son of Arthur Cozart and Vallie Jane Cozart (Daniel).

He was preceded in death by his three brothers and one sister, as well as, his wife, Alma Jean Cozart and daughter Naiomia Ann Daniel.

Johnnie is survived by his three remaining children: Johnnie Cozart Jr of Gallagher, WV, Robert (Tara) Cozart, of Tobaccoville, NC, Elaine (Roy) Stephenson of Fairdale, WV; along with 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and various nieces and nephews.

Johnnie was a veteran, having served in the U. S. Army where he became a chef. He was a retired coal miner after working for over 25 years in the industry. His greatest accomplishment in life was being a devoted servant to the Lord. He was well-known and loved by his community, and he will be greatly missed.

A Wake to honor Johnnie will be held on Wednesday, March 19th at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. The Funeral Ceremony will follow the next day, Thursday, March 20th at 12:00 pm and will be Officiated by Pastor Robert Brown and Pastor Jerry Cantley. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park.
