Johnny L. Belcher
On Saturday, July 26th, 2025, in the evening hours, our most cherished father, grandfather and brother, Johnny Belcher passed into eternity at the Bowers Hospice House. He was in his 79 th year.
One of ten children, Johnny Lone Belcher was born on December 22nd, 1945, at Glen Rogers, where he has been a life-long resident. His parents were the late William Elden and Roberta Chloe Belcher. In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his sisters, June Toler and her husband, Jim, Jean Snuffer and her husband, Junior; brothers, Jim Belcher and his wife Irene, Jerry Belcher and Joe Belcher.
Growing up in Glen Rogers in a large family, he attended Glen Rogers High School. Johnny began a career as a heavy equipment operator, working for the Southern Conservation District where he retired with 21 years of service.
Johnny will be remembered for his love of family. He had a quiet disposition but his gentle presence was felt by all who knew him. Just "over the mountain" from Glen Rogers is the community of Bolt and that's where Johnny would find his soul mate, Nancy Lois Clemens. They would share many wonderful years. To their union was born their only child, William "Elden". Elden would marry Samantha and bless them with two grandchildren, Alex and Zach. Johnny was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He was the last Belcher son, leaving his sisters, Judy Cordell and her husband Tim, Janella Bailey and her husband, Michael, Hope Miller and her husband, Gary and Joanne Hutsenpiller; sisters in law, Claudette and Veronica Belcher; a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins. Johnny was the quiet presence at family gatherings.
On March 14th, 2009, Nancy would pass away after a brief battle with cancer. There's an old Scottish hymn, "Oh Love That Will Not Let Me Go" Johnny was never really quite the same after Nancy's passing. But he kept himself busy, gardening, (he was known for his vegetables) being outdoors, hunting and fishing.
So now we give Johnny back to the Fisherman of Men. He is reunited in Heaven with all those who have gone on before, "Oh Glad Reunion."
This Friday, August 1st at 11:00 am we will lay Johnny to rest beside Nancy in the Calfee Cemetery at Mt. Tabor. Those wishing to attend the graveside services are asked to meet at the cemetery.
