Jonathan Edward Roark, age 71, of Coal City, West Virginia, returned home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
He was born May 25, 1954 in Beckley, West Virginia, a son of Everette and Hazel Roark. Jonathan married the love of his life, Beth Ann Hutchens, and they spent 46 wonderful years together before her passing.
Jonathan began his career working in the mines in 1975. He worked there for 35 years before he retired. He took care of his crew while he worked there. Jonathan always made sure to feed the crew and bring smiles to their faces with his jokes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beth; parents, Everette and Hazel; bonus parents, Bennie and Billie Hutchens; siblings, Frankie Roark, Dennis Roark, Nancy Sears, Joe Roark, Linda St. John, and Everette "Tuffy" Roark.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Amy (Shannon) Keel, Shane (Christy) Roark, and Angela Hall; grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Meadows, Jacob (Miranda) Saunders, Allison Hall, Dustin Hall, Abbie Lefler, Aubrey Roark, Harmonee Roark, and AC Roark; great-grandchildren, Alivia Toney, Raylee Settle, Morgan Saunders, and Georgia Saunders; sisters, Carol (Ronnie) Agee, Diane (Gary) Lawson, and Becky Lytton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 24th at 1:00 PM located at Melton Mortuary to honor Jonathan's life and will be officiated by Reverend David Cook. The family will receive visitors starting an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley. Pallbearers will be the men he worked with.
