Joseph Eddie Chambers, age 80, of Sandlick, West Virginia, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Fayetteville Healthcare Center in Fayetteville, West Virginia.
Joseph was born October 21, 1944 in Birchton, West Virginia, a son of the late Gilbert Edward Chambers and Leona Virginia Peaytt. He married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Chambers on April 17, 1965 in Friendly-view WV .
Joseph was brought up Pentecostal and attended the congregation of Mattsville Community Church. He retired from the Coal Mines where he worked as an electrician for 28 years.
He was a member of the UMWA, Beckley Masonic Lodge 95. He was a US Army Veteran and served for three years when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist 4th Class. Joseph was a God fearing and hardworking man who always was available to help out any friend or neighbor in need.
In addition to his parents Joseph is greeted just outside the Heavenly Gates by his wife of 54 years Shirley Chambers, son Joseph Eddie Chambers Jr. "Bucky", sisters, Virginia Irene Allen, Helen Marie Bailey, and Elizabeth Ann Burnette, and brothers Willis Earl Chambers "Dickie", Elmer Ray Chambers, Billy Franklin Chambers, Gilbert Edward Chambers Jr., and Richard Lee Chambers, and great-grandson Caleb Acord.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Tina(Mark) Davis of Sandlick, WV and Debbie(Greg) Painter of Sandlick, WV, sister Martha Lou Baxter of Warrensburg MO, granddaughter Stephanie(Ryan) Acord of Sandlick, WV, grandson Brayden Painter, great-granddaughter Layla Acord, and many other extended family and friends who will all miss Joesph dearly.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 12:00 PM in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Dewey Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at McGinnis Cemetery in Sandlick. Mark Davis, Greg Painter, Ryan Acord, Billy Baldwin, Randy Dillon, and Jaxon Dillon will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff and doctors at Fayetteville Healthcare Center for all of their love, care, and compassion shown to Joseph and the family, and to special friends Billy Baldwin, Amy Linville, and Virginia Smith, and niece Shannon Bailey.
