“There are many kinds of hands, but none like the ones WE know,
In the late evening hours of Wednesday, January 27th, 2021, our beloved mother, Louise Foley, folded her hands in rest at the age of 92 years ….
Born at Tams, West Virginia on November 9th, 1928, Josephine Louise Taylor was the only child of Oscar and Ollie Withrow Taylor.
“Louise” as she was affectionately known, spent her early years at Tams, moving to Sophia at the age of 8, she would graduate from Sophia High School.
On Christmas Eve in 1947, she would marry a Mabscott boy, her beloved William “Bill” David Foley. To this long marriage was born three children, Lois Bowling, William Foley and his wife, Phyllis and Linda Treadway and her husband, Kenneth.
“They are the hands that guided us, the hands that loved us so.
While Bill worked hard outside the home, Louise did as well, being a devoted homemaker. Frugal, Louise often made her children’s clothing. She found time for needle work, crafts, word search puzzles, growing her flowers and decorating for the holidays, and at the end of the day, a little chocolate Hershey bar!
“They were always busy hands, doing things for us and others…..”
One of the family’s favorite pastimes when growing up was camping. There were many good memories from those adventures.
Time marched on and Bill and Louise grew old together. The children married and brought three grandchildren into the fold, William B. Foley, Christina McCall and her husband, Jones Jr., and David Foley and his wife, Charlene. There are now six great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Their legacy shall live on…..
We would be remiss not to remember Louise’s special friends, Lillian Gandee and Alice Riffe.
This past April, after almost 73 years of marriage, Bill passed away at home at the age of 95, and now, “OH Glad Reunion.” Only one Christmas Eve apart, and together forever, once more.
“Once they were so young and pretty, the hands you like to see, but through the years, the hands grew old…..”
And so the circle is complete. Louise and Bill are together again. This Sunday, February 1st, at 1:00 pm, there will be a “Service of Remembrance” in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Doc Adkins of the First Baptist Church will be officiating. Louise will be laid to rest in the Lester Community Cemetery beside her beloved Bill. Due to the current crisis, services will be private.
“We will always love these hands. They are like no other, for the hands that we tell you about are the hands of OUR dear Mother.
So rest Mama rest. We loved you so, but God loved you best.
