Judith (Judy) Aliff Davis
On the 14th day of May, 2022, Judith Aliff Davis of Beaver, WV, passed away peacefully
surrounded by family. Judy was born on September 11, 1941, and grew up in Pax, West
Virginia. Better known as “Cookie”, she graduated from Pax High School in 1959 where she
was a cheerleader and member of the basketball team. She attended Beckley College.
Judy moved to Beckley, WV in 1967 and worked at Beckley Manufacturing for many years.
Later, she worked for the WVABCC as a manager, prepared tax returns for H&R Block, and
worked for Child Support Enforcement. She retired from the State of West Virginia and fully
enjoyed her retirement. An active quilter, Judy was a member of the Hands All Around Quilt
Guild and West Virginia Quilter’s Association. She traveled around the United States visiting
many quilt shops and attended quilt retreats in Hawaii and Minnesota with her daughter. An avid
traveler she enjoyed a trip to Italy, a Caribbean cruise, and two weeks touring Alaska by land,
sea, and train. She visited the home of her favorite artist when she visited Elvis’ home at
Graceland with her sister.
Active in her community she was a Cub Scout leader and was a founding member of the Beckley
Little League Girls’ Softball program. She coached the first Beckley team to the State
Championships and played on the Beckley City Softball League in the early 1980’s.
A wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Judy loved large family
gatherings and loved to spoil the babies. She is survived by her sister Lee Ann Lykens of
Princeton, WV. Her three children Vickie L. Hylton of Danese WV, Michael E. Davis and wife
Drema Davis of King NC, and Danita L. Adkins of Beaver WV.
She is survived by her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews:
Christopher Kincaid grandson and wife Melanie Kincaid of Morgantown, WV and their children
Carter and Katherine. Anthony Hylton grandson of Hatteras NC and his children Morgan and
Cyrus, Matthew Hylton grandson, of Smithfield, PA, his daughter Alena, his fiancee Becky
Guthrie and their children Skyler and Bella, Justin Adkins grandson and his wife Karissa Adkins
of Wynne AR, and his children, Haley, Levi, Taylor. Jessica Adams her granddaughter, her
husband Jeffrey Adams of Beaver, WV, and her children Mackenzie and Harley. Randal Adkins
grandson of Beaver, WV. Amanda Bodkin her niece and husband Shannon Bodkin of Shady
Spring, WV, and their children Kamryn, Gavin, Brie, and Charlotte. James Lykens nephew and
his wife Chelsie of Gallatin TN, and their children, Evangeline, Clara, and Emerson. Jason
Lykens nephew and his wife Natalie of Nitro, WV. She is also survived by an uncle, David
Aliff, Sr. of Glendale Springs, NC.
Judy is predeceased by her mother, Dorothy Aliff Stover, of Beckley, WV, her grandfather Lacy
E. Aliff, and her grandmother Vesta Janney Aliff, of Pax, WV.
Judy attended the Advent Christian Church.
A Memorial service for Judy will be held on Saturday, May 21st at 1:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. The family is receiving friends at 12 noon
