Judy Gail Stover Obituary

Judy Gail (Holley) Stover, born August 16, 1944, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones in the early hours of August 5, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of the late Coy and Edith Holley of Pax, and one of nine siblings. She was a cherished middle child in a large, loving family.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Eugene Stover. The two shared 41 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to their blended family. She was also preceded in death by her four sisters, two brothers, and two grandsons, Cade and Henley Bare.

She is survived by her daughter Kelley (David) LaPorte; her son Jim (Logan) Bare; her son and best friend, Gene "Bluto" Stover II; as well as two sisters, Nancy (Deiter) Hahn and Frankie Bolyard. Judy was also blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, who brought immense joy to her life and whom she adored deeply.

In her younger years, Judy was known for her radiant smile and contagious laughter. A homemaker for most of her life, she took immense pride in caring for her family and making a home filled with warmth and kindness. Judy's love for her children was fierce and enduring, and she never missed an opportunity to share how proud she was of each of them.

Judy often stepped into the role of caregiver, offering comfort and support to those she loved during their most difficult times. Her home was a place of comfort for many. Her door was always open, and her heart was always welcoming. She never met a stranger.

Some of the fondest memories of Judy include her sitting around the dining room table with her sisters; cards in one hand, cigarette in the other; filled with lots of laughter and unforgettable stories. Her kitchen was her happy place, where she prepared countless homemade meals for family and friends. A lover of simple pleasures, she could often be found watching classic westerns, Murder, She Wrote, or cheering on her beloved Washington Redskins.

Judy will be remembered most for her generous spirit, her unwavering kindness, and her ability to make everyone feel like family. Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched and the love she so freely gave.

A private family service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you extend a simple act of kindness in her memory; just as Judy would have done.
