Karen Sue (Dillon) Basham

     Karen Sue Basham (Dillon), of Beckley, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, June 15th, 2020, at the age of 49 due to complications following lung cancer.

     Karen is survived by her devoted husband of 30 years, David Anthony (Tony) Basham; her sons, David Anthony (Tony) Basham Jr. (wife, Mallonee) and Timothy Ray Basham; her mother, Ethel Pearl Flint; sisters, Kim and Debbie; brothers, Allen and Jimmy; many nieces and nephews; and one grandchild, Josephine.

     Karen was born on June 12th, 1971, in Beckley. She was the youngest of five children. In 1990, her and Tony were married in Pearisburg, Virginia and resided in Shady Spring before moving to Beckley. Though she left school at a young age, she later earned her GED. She waitressed for many years and was known for her hard work and bright attitude. She was kind, funny, and compassionate. Her love for her sons was unfailing, a love which overflowed to her granddaughter.

     A visitation from 5–7pm, with a short service following, will be held with close family and friends at Melton Mortuary on Thursday, June 18th.

      In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Melton Mortuary on behalf of the family for funeral costs. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the staff of Bowers House at the Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their care and support.
