Kathryn Ann Shumaker

It is with great sadness the family would like to announce the passing of Kathryn A. Shumaker, 80, of Meadow Bridge, West Virginia, on October 26, 2022 at the Bower's Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Elton, West Virginia, on October 3rd, 1942 to the late Jessie Surbough, and Macie Vandall.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Darlene Heath; sister Helen Horton, brothers Fred Surbough, Roger Surbough, and Curtis Vandall.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 26 years, Howard Hamrick, daughter Diane (Barry) Clyburn of Beckley, son Kevin (Jenny) Vandall of Midway, son Stephen (Heather) Vandall of Beckley, sisters Janet Cyrus of Michigan, Brenda (Jack) Harrah of Elton, Patricia Miller of Elton, Michael (Roberta) Vandall of Smoot, Debra(Ray) Davis of Meadow Bridge, and Angela Simms of Elton,13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Kathryn loved to cook, work in her garden, and she loved spending time with her family and friends. A wonderful conversationalist, she never met a stranger. Her sense of humor, and making friends and family laugh at her jokes was one of her many talents. She will be forever be missed by all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 4th, 2022 at the Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center Chapel at 4:00 pm with Pastor Eugene Cook officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation two hours prior.
