“Bunk”

 

Kenneth Kyle "Bunk Keatley of Adolph (formerly of Beckley) passed from his earthly life on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the Madison Center in Morgantown under the hospice care of WV Caring.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Keatley was predeceased by his son, Matthew Dane "Chip" Keatley, his youngest daughter, Kitty Karen Keatley, his first wife, Dorothey Ann Ballard Keatley, his oldest brother, Jack Keatley (Shirley deceased), his younger brother Hugh W. Keatley (Nancy), and a stepson, John Janutalo.

Surviving is his eldest daughter, Diane Hull and husband John of Adolph.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, Michelle Shreves (Brian) of Buckhannon, Joshua Keatley Hull (Samantha) of Morgantown, and Season Keatley Hayes of Manassas, Virginia, His ex-wife, Agnes Reeder Keatley of Beckley, and two step-children, Melissa Rodgers and Ashley Maynard (Beth) both of Knoxville, Tennessee.  Bunk also has one great granddaughter, Callie Diane White of Buckhannon.

Bunk graduated from Mount Hope High School in 1945 and was awarded a football scholarship at the University of Chattanooga.  He declined that scholarship to join the United States Navy.  He served on the USS William D. Ward in the Panama and Pacific theaters as well as naval stations in the Great Lakes, Rhode Island, and Norfolk, Virginia.

After the Navy, Bunk attended Marshall College and Beckley College where he played basketball.

Bunk worked for Appalachian Power his entire career of 45 years.  He was an avid outdoorsman and an SSAC basketball referee.  He also coached the Pirates of  Beckley Little League.

Melton Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 1, 2019 from 6-8 p.m.  The funeral service will be Wednesday at Melton's at 11:00 a.m.   Interment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
