Larry Wayne Chapman was born on June 9, 1950, in Summerlee, WV, to his parents, Clarence Chapman and Pearl Evelyn (Strickland) Chapman. He went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in Beckley, West Virginia at the age of 71.
Larry is preceded in death by his first wife of 27 years, Joyce (Abbott) Chapman; parents, Clarence and Pearl Evelyn Chapman; children, twin boys, Larry Jr. and Gary Chapman, step-daughter Rebecca Davis and daughter-in-law Shanna; siblings, Clarence, Charley, Billy, Robert, George, Dennis, and Kenny Chapman. Larry leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife and best friend of 21 years, Betty Jean (Brammer) Chapman; sons, Larry Chapman and his wife Cindy, Ricky Chapman and his wife Xanthe, Jeremy Chapman and his wife Monica and step-son Jimmy Moore and his wife Shelly; step-daughters, Sandy Mankins and husband Jaaron, Bobbie Mauricio, Christy Moore, Darlene Coffer and her husband John, Donna Moore, Missy Perdue and Misty Chapman and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Jimmy Chapman, Linda Frye, Brenda Bailey, Ronnie Chapman, and Glen Chapman, and many extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Larry was a loving husband, brother, father, and step-father. He had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a special bond with his grand-daughter, Makenzie, whom also became his caretaker as his health declined. He showed love to any child in need and was a father figure to so many.
Larry loved spending time with family and having large gatherings. He was quite the cook and loved preparing meals for others. Larry could light up the room with his infectious smile. He loved to laugh and joke, enjoyed nights around the table playing cards with all the kids, watching WV football, and listening to blue grass gospel music (way too loud) and could surprise you with his dancing.
In addition to all his family, he had a love of animals. He rescued and spoiled many dogs over the years and had recently added two goats to the family, that he was so proud of. He will be greatly missed but his memory cherished forever.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 12:30 - 1:30pm at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. A graveside service with Pastor Gary Hall officiating, will follow at Sunset Memorial Park at 2:00 pm.
