On Saturday April 24, 2021 surrounded by his loving family Larry Ray Kuhn passed away at his home in Beckley, West Virginia. Larry was 67 years old. Larry was born on June 6, 1953 in Madison, West Virginia.
He was the son of the late Wayne Kuhn and Romona Thomas Kuhn. His wife Jo Lynn Baker Kuhn, brother Pete Kuhn, and sister Donna Kuhn McMillion has preceded him in death. Larry grew up in Fairdale and attended Trap Hill High School. He enjoyed playing baseball and softball, boxing, and fishing. He was the recipient of the first ever annual Governor’s Trophy in the Golden Gloves Tournament in 1972. He was a coal miner and a factory worker. He moved to North Carolina in the 80’s and later met and married the love of his life Jo Lynn.
Those left to cherish his memories include his daughter Jennifer Fannin and husband Steve of Kent, Washington; granddaughter Tiffany Buckley and husband Josh of Montgomery, West Virginia; step-son Kelly Land of Forrest City, North Carolina; step-son Richard Land of Stanley, North Carolina; brother Garry Kuhn and wife Shirley of Lester; sister Kathy Kuhn of Fairdale, brother Tommy Kuhn of Lester, brother-in-law John McMillion of Iron Station, North Carolina, brother-in-law Sid Baker of Reidsville, North Carolina, and sister-in-law Brenda Baker of Trinity, North Carolina. There is a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Per Larry’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center. There will be no scheduled service. Words of comfort may be offered to the family by visiting www.meltonmortuary.com
