Leila Faye Reid
June 9, 1945 - October 14, 2025


Leila Faye Reid, age 80, of Mabscott, West Virginia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Beckley Healthcare in Beckley, surrounded by love and peace.


Born on June 9, 1945, in Beckley, West Virginia, Leila was the daughter of the late Leonard and Josie Faye (Richardson) Reid. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister and best friend, Dorothy (Charlie) Lilly; brothers James Reid, Joe Bill (Bertha) Lilly, Frankie Reid, and Leonard Reid; and nephews Rodney (Julie) Lilly and Randall (Kathy) Reid.


Leila is survived by her devoted partner of more than 50 years, Kenneth Wood of Mabscott, who was the love of her life. The two met while attending West Virginia State College at Institute, where their lifelong love story began.


Leila faced many health challenges throughout her life, yet her faith in God never wavered. She was a living example of strength, grace, and perseverance, trusting the Lord in every season. Her heart was full of compassion, her spirit gentle and kind, and her prayers steadfast for those she loved.


She was a talented homemaker and an excellent cook who found joy in creating a warm and welcoming home. She loved crocheting, embroidery, painting, and other crafts-using her God-given creativity to bring beauty and joy to others. Leila also had a deep love for animals and cared tenderly for many pets throughout her life.


Leila is survived by her nephews Roger (Cathy) Lilly and Greg Reid, great-nieces Miranda Guzmán and Alix Lilly; great-nephews Todd Cornett, Jordan and Zach Lilly, James and Jon Reid; and several great-great-nieces and nephews who will carry her legacy of love and faith forward.


Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Melton's A graveside service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, with Pastor David Brooks officiating.


Leila's family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Beckley Healthcare and Southern WV Hospice for their kindness and care.


Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing Leila is healed and whole in the presence of Jesus. She has been reunited with her loved ones who went before her and now rests in the arms of her Savior. As 2 Timothy 4:7 reminds us, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
