Letha Jacquelyn "Jackie" Riggs Musick, 77, born in Sophia, a lifelong resident of Raleigh County, WV and formerly HIlton Head, SC, was welcomed to Heaven on February 22, 2025, surrounded by family, following an extended illness.
Jackie was born June 28th, 1948 in Beckley, WV, the daughter of Jesse Buford "J.B." and Joyce Perez Riggs.
Jackie was a graduate of Sophia High School in 1966, then attended Concord College (University), earning a bachelor's degree in Education with a specialty in music. She earned her master's degree at West Virginia University and remained a fan. Jackie's love for learning, educating, experiencing life to its fullest and carrying the perfect melody was a part of every facet of her life.
Jackie married Edwin "Terry" Musick on August 4, 1979 in Beckley, WV with the blessings of many friends. 47 years of marriage included an infinite amount of memories, travels, experiences, friendships and love made. Jackie and Terry shared many common interests which made it natural for their groups of friends to fit together as a family, and a big group it was! The love shall remain.
Jackie worked as an educator with Raleigh County Schools. In retirement, Jackie joined Terry's business, National TV and Appliance as a key part of the buying and marketing strategies. She also volunteered, generously, with her gift of voice and sang and played piano in many, many community, church and special events. Her sweet voice set the tune to many special occasions and will forever be remembered.
While Jackie was certain to get the task at hand complete, she also carried an admirable passion for living. She was an avid tennis and golf player and loved traveling the world with friends along the way. Her interests led to membership in multiple clubs including interests from culinary to mahjong, tennis and golf. The world is a better place for having had 77 years of her presence.
To those left to cherish her memory, her reach was far and breadth wide. The lives touched by her cannot be counted and the memories should never be forgotten. Plese, sing a little louder when you hear the song, have an extra sip because it is "so good", enjoy the warm sun as the early dew is rising and think of Jackie. She will be close by wherever you are.

As well as, Jerry And Carol Riggs (Harrisnborg, VA), Nancy "Riggs" Myers (The Villages of FL), Ben Riggs (Akron, Ohio), Brenda "Riggs" and Gary Kisner (Adamstown, MD), Paulette "Riggs" and Eric Bradbury (Sophia, WV) Paul and Patty Riggs (Florence, KY), Vonda and Joe Dunn (Virginia Beach, VA), David Cirer, Virginia Beach, Charlotte and Mark Campbell (West Jordan, Utah, Charles and Kay Varney, Jr. (Hawaii), Thomas and Peggy Musick (Colonial Beach, VA), Elden Musick (Jonesboro,TN), Wayne and Annette Hickman, (Natural Bridge, VA), Dick and Sharon Lafferty (Partlow, VA), Also, remaining to remember her life are a host of cousins and extended relatives.
Preceding Jackie in death are J.B. and Joyce Riggs, Ernest and Nora Musick, Geneva (Perez) and Phil Varney, Geneva and Charles Varney, Frank and Jewel Cier, Jack and Cathrerine Riggs, Betty (Riggs) Pate Craddock, Charlotte (Riggs) and Ed Skelton, Elizabeth (Riggs) Caldwell, Ella (Kallum) Riggs, Larry Myres and Francis Musick (Elden).
Special recognition goes to chosen families including Jennifer Bowling, Kris and Carrie Folds and Jackie Williams.
A Memorial service will be held March 4th, 2025 at Black Knight Country Club at 2400 South Kanawha Street, Beckley, WV, with Pastor Don Kelly presiding over remarks. Friends and family may gather from 2pm-4pm to share memories of Jackie. Interment will be at a future private service in Jonesboro, TN at Logans Chapel.

A special note of appreciation goes to the staff at The Rocking Chair, Lerona, WV whose familial style of caring was a gift to Jackie during her time there. Also, to the home health and medical team members who blessed Jackie with their care and knowledge. Jackie considered them her family.
