Lois Moore Cooper
August 7, 1939- March 14, 2025
Lois Moore Cooper, 85, of Beckley, WV, passed peacefully at Hospice of Southern WV, on Friday, March 14, 2025, after a short illness and entered her Heavenly home with her Lord and Savoir.
Lois was born on August 7, 1939, in Glenville WV, to the late Arthur and Lucille Moore.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband James E. Cooper, sister, Sondra Lucht, and brother Jack Moore.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jim (Kelly) Cooper of Statesville, NC, Cheryl (Jeff) Osborne of Beckley WV, grandchildren Ryne (Ashley) Cooper of Statesville, NC, Jacob Cooper and fiancé Alexandria Argenti-Gibb of Mentor, Ohio, Jessica (Beau) Broyles of South Charleston, WV, Brent Osborne of Flat Top, WV; great- grandchildren Ryder Cooper and Gracelynn Cooper of Statesville, NC; special niece Karen Kutchera Midgett of Washington, NC; sister Helen Bean of Elkview, WV., sister-in-law Patricia Hall Moore of Frametown, WV.
Lois attended Normantown High School in Gilmer County and went on to receive a BA Degree in Education from Glenville State College in 1947 and later went back to receive her master's degree from West Virginia University in 1986. She met and married the love of her life while attending Glenville State and moved to Raleigh County where she taught for 37 years and received the 1988-89 Raleigh County Teacher of the Year Award. She loved her years of teaching and especially enjoyed her work as a professional development presenter at the county and state levels.
Lois was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, in Beckley, WV. She found great joy in her faith and dedicated her life to serving others through her church. She faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher, children's choir director, choir member and pianist, touching countless lives with her kindness, wisdom, and musical gifts. Her love for the Lord was evident in everything she did, and she leaves behind a legacy of faith, love and service.
You would never find Lois sitting idle; she was always busy quilting, crafting, card making and playing the piano. Her favorite pastime activity was spending hours reading murder mysteries. Her greatest joy was spending time with her four grandchildren-watching sporting events, dance recitals and anything they were involved in. She was their biggest cheerleader.
Funeral services will be conducted at Melton's Mortuary in Beckley, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. James Boyd officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, WV. Friends may visit with the family from noon until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ryne Cooper, Jacob Cooper, Brent Osborne and Beau Broyles.
