Lois Jean (Fletcher) Fox

Lois Jean Fletcher Fox, age 83, formerly of Sophia, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior at The Villages at Greystone on Saturday, June 20 while surrounded by her family.  Lois was born on December 22, 1936 to the late Dorothy Sesler Fletcher and Ira Fletcher.  She was the last surviving member of her family having been preceded in death by her sisters Mary Ellen Bratton and Joyce Fletcher and her brothers Donald Fletcher, Harry Fletcher and an infant brother.  Lois was also preceded in death by her husband, F.D. “Bud” Fox in 2014.

Lois is survived by her daughter Kim and husband John, of Lumberport, West Virginia and her son Bryan and wife Melissa of Shady Spring.  She was the doting “Granny” to Michael Hurt of Shinnston, Brandon Fox of St. Augustine, Florida and Cassidy Fox of Belle.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law.

Lois began working at Beckley Manufacturing following her graduation from Glen Rogers High School.  It was there that she and Bud met and began their life together.  She left Beckley Manufacturing and after a few years she went to work for the United States Postal Service.  Lois worked at the Crab Orchard Post Office and retired from the Sophia Post Office. 

Lois was a member of the Cranberry Baptist Church where she was baptized at the young age of 72.  She also attended Lumberport Baptist Church and Crab Orchard Baptist Church with her family.

The family would like to extend their greatest appreciation to the staff of The Villages at Greystone for the love and care of Lois for the last two and one-half years and they are especially grateful for the compassion and care that she received during her final days.  The family would also like to thank Ashley Lemley for her special friendship with Lois.

Funeral services will be on Friday, June 26 at the Melton Mortuary Chapel.  Pastor David Bush will be officiating.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the hour of the service at 1 pm followed by a brief service at the mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park.
