Lonnie Mitchem Garris

Lonnie Mitchem Garris, 75 of Oak Hill, West Virginia, was called home on August 13th, 2023. Born on February 19th, 1948, a son of the late John Harvey Garris, and Rose Belle Farmer, in Crab Orchard, West Virginia.

In addition to his parents, those who also greet him at Heaven's gates are his brothers, Richard, James, Harvey, Garland, sisters, Barbara, and Lula, son Lonnie Jamie Garris, and grandson Devin Ryan Reed.

Those left behind to forever hold, and cherish his memory are his daughters, Joyce Lavon and husband Robert Wright of Crab Orchard, WV, Robin Michelle Garris of Sophia, WV, and Kristi Lynn Garris of Coal City, WV, lifetime companion BJ Monroe of Oak Hill, West Virginia, siblings Lawrence and Pat Garris of Sophia, WV, Lee Garris of Crab Orchard, WV, Raymond and Lucille Garris of Crab Orchard, WV, Larry and Debbie Garris of Beckley, WV, grandchildren, Jake and Amanda Wright, Chastity Wright and Jeremy Lilly, Kendra Wright and Hunter Mills, Dylan Reed, River Spencer, Kayla Garris, Zachary and Tori Garris, Scotty Williams, Allicyn Williams, Lonnie Renee Garris, Jamie Dawson Garris, Corey Holmes, Aidden Garris, great-grandchildren, Olivia Wright, Charlotte Wright, Jaxel Lilly, Mckenzie Keyes, Ava Keyes, Liliana Pierce, Lincoln Garris, Jade Garris, and one more great-grandson on the way Walker Mills, and many other extended family, and friends who will all miss him dearly.

Lonnie was an outdoors-man, always enjoying hunting, fishing, ginseng, and enjoying God's beauty in nature, he was a can do man, and a jack of all trades, showcasing this in carpentry, woodworking, home projects, and tending his garden. He was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge Fraternity Order 1606, and had quite a few friends and brothers at this fraternal club.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Moosehaven, and Mooseheart in Lonnie's name.

A funeral service will take place for Lonnie on Thursday, August 17th, 2023 at 1:00pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends, and visitors beginning at 11:00 am.
