Marcia Kay King Obituary

Marcia Kay King, 85, of Lewisburg, West Virginia, passed away on March 22nd, 2026.

Born Marcia Kay Persinger in 1941 in Beckley, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Leonard and Helene Persinger. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and, in 1959, married her junior high school sweetheart, Russell Frederick King, with whom she built a life centered around family and shared traditions.

Marcia recently celebrated her 85th birthday on Valentine’s Day, a fitting reflection of a life centered on love—expressed through the care and devotion she gave to those closest to her.

She was deeply devoted to her husband and family, and together they created a home life filled with consistency, tradition, and care. Marcia had a special gift for making a home feel welcoming and thoughtfully put together—something all who knew her came to recognize and appreciate.

She loved cooking and gathering her family around the table, and holidays—especially Christmas and Easter—were always beautifully celebrated with intention and joy.
In her later years, after the passing of her husband, Marcia remained in Lewisburg and embraced a new chapter of independence. She found happiness in simple routines, often walking daily into town—enjoying the familiarity of her surroundings and the quiet rhythm of her days.

She also found joy in life’s creative touches, from tending to her flowers to decorating her space, always wanting things to be “just right.” Her faith and the relationships it fostered remained an important part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved daughter, Kimberlee Kay Kline; her grandson, Steven R. Kline II; her sister, Sherry Shapiro; and her brother, Charlie Bill Persinger.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Katherine Beth King (Dave) of New York; Russell Frederick King II (Tiffany) of West Virginia; and Kerry Lynn King-Carmona (Cid) of Florida. She also leaves behind her cherished grandsons: Kurtis Arvay, Kevin Arvay (Ashley), Connor Arvay, Alexander King (Alexandra), Matthew King, and Michael King; as well as her nieces, Wendy Robinson and Sharon Shapiro.

Marcia will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her attention to detail, and the traditions she created that will continue to live on in the lives of those she loved.

A Funeral Service honoring Marcia will be held on Saturday, March 28th at 11 am at Melton Mortuary officiated by Pastor Sam Banton.
